During the month of March, students from all six Sydney Adventist Schools came together for special programs of worship and fellowship.

On Thursday, 7 March, Middle school students (Years 5-8) met at the new Kellyville campus of Hills Adventist College for a morning of activities, music and a special presentation from Christopher Wayne, a Christian magician.

Christopher Wayne entertained the 600 middle school students with his ‘magic tricks’, which he explained were really just slight-of-hand, distraction and illusion. As part of his fun-filled presentation, which included using student volunteers, he shared his personal testimony of coming to faith in God and realising that God has a plan for each person. “The best part of what I do in my work is sharing that we’re all made by a God who loves us and has a plan for our lives,” he said. “All that stuff inside you that you want to do, God put that there for a reason. I’m so glad that I took the time to get to know God.”

On Thursday, 14 March, approximately 800 Junior School (Years K-4) students from across Sydney met at Mountain View Adventist College in Doonside for their combined worship day, which included special items from all schools and a presentation about courage from the chaplain of Hurstville Adventist School, Mr Raul Moran, as well as a guest appearance from the brave ‘Mr Monkey’.

On Thursday, 21 March, about 360 students from the three Senior Schools (Years 9-12) met at Macarthur Adventist College in Macquarie Fields. They participated in activities and heard a special message from David Gillespie based on the theme of Crazy Love. “When people are in love, they can sometimes do the craziest things,” said Macarthur chaplain, Andre Afamasaga. “Our theme is about showing the students that Jesus loves us and has done the craziest thing ever for each of us.”

The Sydney Adventist Schools combined days of worship are designed to nurture the spirituality of students and staff, as well as provide opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and participate in the wider Adventist school community.
