There was a buzz this year at Inspire as guest speaker, Dr Derek Morris, unpacked the words of Jesus found in Matthew 9.37-39, “The harvest is plentiful but the labourers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” It was a timely reminder and reassurance for the conference as Inspire was held a week before the commencement of The Last Empire evangelistic series. Across the weekend, over 500 people attended Inspire and participated in the workshops, worship, and moments of fellowship.
This year it was decided to trial something different. Inspire Regionals, in the week leading up-to the Inspire weekend, were held at Wahroonga, Mt Druitt, Hoxton Park, Concord, and Kellyville. Dr Morris spoke at each of the ‘regionals’ on the Harvest theme. The regionals were well supported and provided good momentum for the Inspire weekend.
The high-school and children’s programs ran concurrently with the workshops at Inspire. Raul Moran, assistant pastor at Wetherill Park Spanish and chaplain at Hurstville Adventist School, was the speaker for the high-school program. Mr Moran spoke on the theme, Transformers, challenging the teens to allow God to transform their lives and circumstances. The children enjoyed an outback adventure at the Buronga Station with stories, games, crafts, worship, and many more fun activities.
Next year will see some changes to Inspire. The regionals (19-23 April) will once again precede the Inspire weekend (24-27 April). However, Inspire 2014 will be held at Mountain View Adventist College (MVAC). The decision to trial MVAC as the venue for Inspire 2014 was made with the intention to make Inspire more accessible to the membership across the conference. There will still be a high-school and children’s program as well as workshops during the day. All the very best of Inspire will still be present except participants will return to their own homes in the evening.
Brazilian born, Pr Elbert Kuhn, president of the Mongolian Adventist Mission, will be the main speaker at Inspire 2014. Pr Kuhn is excited to be coming to Sydney and has already began to prepare on the theme for Inspire 2014, To Serve…
