As a pastor, you are often placed under extreme pressure in your ministry. You are on call 24/7. People have high expectations regarding your professional performance, relational capabilities, moral behaviour and family life. At times you may feel within yourself the frustrations of not being able to do all that your sense of duty calls you to do. You sometimes go through personal crises, unasked and unexpected. There are occasions when, in your humanness, you make wrong decisions which have devastating consequences. Yours is often a lonely and trying profession.
But your ministry is also richly blessed with rewards and reasons to rejoice. You are privileged to represent the mind and heart of God to people in sermons and visits and evangelistic outreach. Your greatest challenge factor–people–is also your greatest reward factor. You have the supreme joy of bringing people to know Christ and baptising them into His kingdom. You have the satisfaction of knowing you are making a difference in the lives of scores of people.
Ministerial Association is here to weep and to celebrate with you, to support you and to encourage you, to enable your growth and to ensure your survival–for all this. The Greater Sydney Conference currently has over 50 employed pastors and a number of volunteer or bivocational pastors whose interests are served by this Association.
