The first church service for the Seven Hills Group took place on Sabbath 3rd December 2011, after the Merrylands Samoan SDA church gave its blessing to five families to start a community project with an outreach focus to the local community.   Within one year of operation in the Seven Hills community, these families were further joined by 5 more families that took the new group’s membership from 23 adults to 44 adults and 12 children. Regularly attending members from the community include an elderly Italian woman, a Chinese young man, who works together with people from the church, and a young couple that came to the church through their Samoan Language School outreach project for school-aged students.

It wasn’t long before Laufili Joe Ah-You, a theology student from Avondale College, who has been volunteering to help Pastor Tuni Laikum work with the new  group since December 2011, began baptismal classes with these new community members and three of his own children.

On Saturday 16th November 2013, Pastor Tuni and Laufili Joe Ah-You, together with members of the Seven Hills SDA Community Group, baptised 3 young boys and a woman whom had been attending Laufili Joe Ah-you’s Bible study classes during the year.  The Greater Sydney Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, together with the Seven Hills Group, welcomed Angela Crichton, Joseph Ah-You, Ignatious Ah-You and Quentin Ah-You into the family of God through baptism.

The baptism took place in the swimming pool of one of the baptismal candidates.  It was followed by lunch in their home. It was a joyous occasion to witness all four baptismal candidates publicly give their lives to Jesus Christ.

The baptism was the highlight of the many activities that the group had been involved in for this year.
