A strong turn out of almost 60 church treasurers attended the Treasurer’s Training Session on Sunday 16 March at the Greater Sydney Conference Office. The purpose of the event was to provide a venue for church treasurers to network and discuss best practices as they work in their local churches.
“The role of a church treasurer can be a very isolated one, and it’s a very technical job. We wanted to provide a place where treasurers could network with one another. We are here to support treasurers in their role,” stated Eva Ing, CFO of the Greater Sydney Conference.
The training event was an interactive, practical session that covered the key accountabilities a treasurer has to deal with in a local church, including Treasury Principles, What a Treasurer is Supposed to Do, and Introduction to the Tithe & Offering System.
All participants received a Treasurer’s kit bag, which included the new comprehensive Greater Sydney Conference Treasurers Manual, sample forms, receipt books and other goodies.
