In 2009, when Craig Shipton discovered that more than 25000 children die every hour around the world from diseases that could be prevented if clean water and proper nutrition was available, 25000 Spins, was born. Money raised provides help for disadvantaged children in developing countries and, in the process, gives riders a sense of accomplishment. Four rides are held each year: the Great Ocean Road in February, London to Paris July 16-21, the Swiss Adventure July 24-28, and the North Queensland Adventure from September 8-10. See the website www.25000spins.com to add your name for the North Queensland ride or register an interest in one of next year’s rides.
“25OOOspins has made a big difference to kids in need as well as to those involved in the charity challenges,” Mr Shipton said. He continued, “After eight very successful trips and with approximately $500,000 raised to date, I am pleased with the contribution that 25000spins has made and the blessing it has been. I wanted to do something to help many people who don’t share the privileges so many of us enjoy here in Australia”. This year’s Great Ocean Road trip raised more than $128,000 for the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA), Compassion and the Botswana Orphan Project.
“2500Ospins commitment to alleviating poverty and bringing lasting change to communities in need is extraordinary” said Matthew Siliga, ADRA CEO (New Zealand).
Upon registration, each rider decides who they would like to fundraise for and all money raised is given directly to their chosen charity. To register for the North Queensland Adventure in September, or to find out more about 25000spins, go to the website www.25000spins.com.
